Highway 70 is curvy and well maintained--an enjoyable ride, even for novices. There are many places to pull over, park, and cool off in the river.

From Highway 70, take 89 around Lake Almanor and into Chester. From there, you can follow Deer Creek along Highway 32 through some of the most diverse scenery in the county, ranging from the tall pines of the high country with a view of Mt. Lassen, to the rice fields in the valley.
